With the release of Empire’s latest issue, the Internet is a buzz over revelations made within, just as news of a prologue and rumors hit as well.

So what do we know?  According to the Empire article, Christopher Nolan has stated that The Dark Knight Rises takes place eight years after The Dark Knight movie released in 2008.  This bit of news makes the title seem more in line with the story than something that takes place immediately after the last movie.

There is also news that a seven minute prologue piece will be featured in front of Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol.  That by itself doesn’t seem like too big of a deal, but we understand that this will appear in select IMAX theaters only.  This is a great play for IMAX ticket sales (and quite possibly a way to boost Mission Impossible ticket sales).  According to the story, the prologue will be “an introduction to Bane, and a taste of the rest of the film.”

Following that bit of news, the big rumor (and more than likely it is a rumor) has Ellen Page playing a grown up Barbara Gordon. The character, though not named, appeared as a young girl at the end of The Dark Knight, and if eight years have passed, Ellen still looks young enough to play the teenaged daughter. There have been numerous anti-casting comments, though nothing directly from Warner Bros. or the Nolan camp.  Still it is an interesting tid-bit, but it remains a rumor that should be taken as just that.

Hate the Bane mask. Doesn’t mean I won’t watch the movie.

“Bane”… the name speaks for itself!
(Oh, and can I have a side of “Venom” to go with my Spider-man?)
Done to death and I could not be more bored.
This is what is going to follow Heath Ledger’s “Joker”?!?
Maybe “Catwoman” can save the day…

(Having not seen the movie since it’s not out) You’re entirely correct! Bane HAS been done to death (where, exactly? On screen? Nope… in the comics? Nope… In your unpublished fanfic? POSSIBLY! I joke… I kid…)

Pretty much all the “fans” were up in arms at Ledger’s casting and yet we were treated to a genius performance in an incredible (if flawed at points) film…

Guys… seriously… actually give the movie a chance (either to suck or to triumph) before you decide it’s going to suck. That means SEE it BEFORE you pass judgement…
