Press Release

Comic creator Dan Wickline (1001 Arabian Nights: The Adventures of Sinbad, ShadowHawk, 30 Days of Night: Spreading the Disease) announces the return of paranormal detective Lucius Fogg. After the successful release of Deadly Creatures during the summer 2011, readers got to know the 1950’s New York where magic and the undead lurk around every corner. The clamoring for more began almost immediately and Wickline was quick to oblige. Now a second adventure of Fogg and his leg man Jimmy Doyle has become available for the Kindle, the Nook or for PDF download with the release of the full-length novel LUCIUS FOGG: MALICIOUS INTENT.

In Malicious Intent, Jimmy Doyle’s girlfriend spends Halloween night in the brownstone and becomes possessed by a deadly spirit from Lucius Fogg’s past. The seemingly random event turns out to be just the opening move in a very dangerous game being played by Kieran Drake, Fogg’s greatest rival. Drake returns to the public eye by announcing his candidacy for mayor of New York and ripping the cover off of the hidden supernatural world that exists in the city’s shadows. Fogg and Doyle must discover what’s really going on before Drake removes all the players from the board permanently.

Wickline is keeping the e-novel at $2.99 even against outside advice. “I’ve had a few authors tell me that with the size of the book I could easily charge $4.99 or more, but I’ve decided against it. $2.99 is the price point my comic readers are used to and I think it makes the Lucius Fogg series a good value, even in these bad economic times.”

Malicious Intent is the second in a series of Lucius Fogg novels that Wickline plans to release two to three times a year. “I am constantly coming up with new idea for these characters. At this point I already know what the third and fourth novels will be about and I’m eager to get started on them. Writing Fogg and Doyle is some of the most fun I’ve had in my career.”

In a review of the first novel,’s James Ferguson said: “As an introductory novel to a new series, Lucius Fogg: Deadly Creatures takes the first step on a path that I hope includes many more adventures. The style of writing fits perfectly with the era of the 1950s and Doyle is a likeable and easily relatable character, albeit one who eats breakfast with a stone golem every so often.”
