The premise is: Someone, somewhere, fires a shot at the Avengers. The Avengers take the shot, but your wallet and suspension of disbelief takes the entirety of the damage…
Punisher joins the Avengers.
And then, 1993 calls and wants it’s everything back.

SO far we have the Avengers…the Ultimates who were based on the Avengers…..the movie Avengers who were based on the Ultimates…..and soon an Avengers that are based on the movie Avengers. Get alll that? WHAT IF this new Avengers promo was an Avengers story that does away with Bendis from any interaction with any Avengers title whatsoever…sorta like a real life behind the scenes story. Nahhh too ridiculous to even imagine such a thing right?
