Classic movie monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman are probably going to remain hot properties for decades to come, which is probably why Universal Studios and NBC are working on a modern take of the Frankenstein tale.
The script is being written by Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner, both executive producers of House.
Currently, there are a total of six Frankenstein projects in the works at various studios.

Gee. Anybody remember a decade or so ago when one studio announced they were doing a Robin Hood movie and then everybody (including Mel Brooks) came out with a Robin Hood movie? (Sad to say, Mel Brooks’ parody turned out to be a better Robin Hood movie than the Kevin Costner one). Or how one studio announced it was making a Wyatt Earp movie and then everybody came out with a movie about Wyatt Earp? Now it’s Frankenstein. Anybody else see a pattern here? Or a lack of creativity and imagination? Color me unimpressed. If I want to see a dopey Universal monster movie, I’ll go watch “Abbot and Costello Meet Frankensetien” again. Right after I drive a few railroad spikes into my skull.
