According to TV Guide, viewers may get to see several flashback episodes in the second season of Walking Dead on AMC. In the quick blurb, fans of the series will see how Lori and Shane hooked up during the crazed time of the zombie uprising>

This shouldn’t be a big surprise as there was at least one flashback sequence in the Image Comics series where Kirkman showed the same thing.

The more surprising news is that Robert Kirkman is working on a Volume Zero that tells the same tale in more detail. While I’m all for more Walking Dead (providing the story moves forward), when a series starts telling tales of what happened before, it does send up a signal to me that “someone” is trying to stretch the series for as long as possible.

Walking Dead #86 made it to the 52nd spot on the June 2011 Top 300 list.

If there’s a story there, let’s tell it! But I hope we don’t get too many flashbacks, since we (the audience) live in the pre-zombie era, we don’t need to see too much of that explored. It’s more interesting to see where the world goes after the uprising/infestation/whatever.
