Variety is reporting that is has learned that Brian Kirk, who directed several episodes of the highly successful Game of Thrones series for HBO is in talks to direct the sequel to Thor.  We’ve known since the official announcement of the sequel that Kenneth Branaugh would not be returning to the director’s chair, which has had Marvel Studios on a mad dash to find someone who could direct the flick.

If Kirk is hired, this will be his first big screen movie project.

Thor 2: Asgard Boogaloo is set for a July 26, 2013 release.
