Is this supposed to be the plan to compete with the DC relaunch? Feels kinda week to me. I might be wrong though. Anybody else?
Not a relaunch, right?
Not sure I like the recipe. This sounds a lot like Year One from DC blended liberally with the Pilot Season from Top Cow with a dash of Earth One (also DC) for a bit of flavour…
Odd… tastes like “too little, too late” pie or “copy cat stew”
/horrible metaphor
How about “Shameless Cash Grab Sandwich” ?
Then again, there’s the often overlooked “Things that have worked in the past” casserole. Furthermore I like that they’re just making them trades from the get-go
Not to be confused with “Daredevil: Yellow” or “X-Men: First Class”.
It’s not as drastic as DCnU, which could be good . . . but I also feel its a little too weak for my taste.
Sounds more akin to DC’s “Earth One” books…well…”book”, since JMS’ “Superman Earth One” is the only one to have been published so far.
Sounds like Marvel is trying to catch up to DC by ‘modernizing the origins’ of their popular heroes to bring in a new audience. Marvel is late out of the gate on that idea and are trying to take advantage of the ground that DC is breaking.
But let me ask this: There aren’t any female characters other they Sue Reed and maybe a X-‘man’ or two, that are getting this treatment and no female creators either. Hmm, Marvels not being very diverse. :-)
Except that the DCnU is really just DC following Marvel’s Decade old Ultimate line, they’re just doing it in the main continuity.
They’re all going to try to one-up each other over and over again. But not everything that Marvel does for the next 6 months HAS to be seen as some play to combat DC’s new universe.
