Deadline is reporting that EC’s Tales from the Crypt is getting renewed interest from BOOM! Studios co-founder, and co-creator of the SyFy television series Eureka, Andrew Cosby.

The new hourlong series will neither be anthological nor related to the HBO show. “It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context,” Cosby said. “It’s all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences.”

Nothing has been done besides a detailed pitch and a series bible.  The hope is to take the idea around to broadcast and cable outlets to see who picks it up.

Wow, that’s such a great idea! Who’d ever think to put a show like Tales from the Crypt on TV?! lol. I’d be fine with it, I loved the original series and that original music.
