How many of you remember the 1981 movie Scanners? You know, the one were you can use your mind to make other people’s heads explode? Turns out the cult classic is being considered for a television series.
The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films is developing a drama series adaptation of the movies about a group of people with telepathic and telekinetic abilities, with The Hills Have Eyes writer-director Alexandre Aja signed to executive produce the series and potentially direct the pilot.
An interesting twist in this story – thanks to the success of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Scanners flipped from being a theatrical remake to a television series.
Though I doubt we’ll get to see a lot of head’s exploding on screen in gory graphic detail, this announcement is going to hit a lot of people just right… especially if the show moves from pilot to series status.
