With word spreading fast and furious that there will indeed be a new Evil Dead movie coming our way, fans of the series want to know how involved Bruce Campbell will be in the flick.   Is Ash returning?  Will he still have a chainsaw for a hand?

Don’t get your hopes up too high as director Federico Alvarez says, “we know that we are going to offend those who are fans.”

A description of the movie from El Pais describes Bruce’s role in the movie as

The only recognizable face is part of Bruce Campbell, but will be in a cameo towards the end of the film. Another thing that will change the characters and some story details, while keeping the basic outline of friends who are beleaguered by demons in a cabin alone.

With Diablo Cody currently doing rewrites, and Sam Raimi not attached at all, I’m cautious about this movie, but I reserve the right to change my mind, should the story, trailer, and Bruce’s appearance knock my socks off.

I feel more and more like in a dystopian future were the same things are constantly served as something new to numb our sense or something. (partly joking) :-P

I’d really just rather see The Cabin in the Woods.

Well, that about seals it for me. Not gonna go see that. Ash is what made the Evil Dead series for me.

I can see it now. They fight off the zombies and gradually die off one by one, until only the guy and the girl are left. Suddenly, at the end, Ash shows up, saves the day, roll credits. End result, rent it from Red Box, and fast forward to the end. Return it the same day.
