While we have had many movies focusing on invaders from the great beyond, we haven’t been subjected to two hours of aliens falling from the sky while someone dodges behind a floating barricade going “pew-pew-pew!”  Prepare for that all to change as Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Gigi Pritzker have secured the film rights for the video game.

For di Bonaventura, Space Invaders is the latest of a string of projects based on 80s touchstones. He is a producer on the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies, both based on popular Me Decade toys. And he is developing Asteroids, based on the classic arcade game, and a remake of 1989’s Pet Sematary.

So… wanna see what H’wood does to Space Invaders?

I dont want to spoil the end but the hero defeats the invaders by shooting a hole through a barrier and picking them off one by one. Focusing on columns rather than rows.
