Like you didn’t see this coming…
Press Release
Marvel is pleased to announce X-Men: ReGenesis, a bold new direction redefining the X-Men franchise! X-Men: ReGenesis kicks off this fall in Uncanny X-Men #1 & Wolverine and the X-Men #1 and its ramifications will send shockwaves throughout every X-Book and the Marvel Universe! Prepare for the X-Men’s new dawn as former allies head off in different directions, taking with them your favorite X-Men characters. Following the unforgettable outcome in X-Men: Schism, mutantkind will be asking one another “Who will you follow?” and their answers may surprise you! Never before have there been TWO teams calling themselves the X-Men and never has anyone had to choose a side. Guided by their different ideologies, each leader has their own mission for saving their species, but is only one of them right?
This October, Marvel Architect Jason Aaron and superstar artist Chris Bachalo launch Wolverine And The X-Men #1, assembling a team led by Logan himself with a line-up that nobody will see coming. Then, in November, history is made with Uncanny X-Men #1. From the superstar writer Kieron Gillen and artists Carlos Pacheco & Greg Land, new leadership rises with a renewed, refocused, and re-imagined group of Uncanny mutants.
“Years of X-Men history have been leading to this. X-Men: ReGenesis will affect our entire line leading up to a major conflict coming up in 2012!” said Marvel Editor in Chief, Axel Alonso. “This is just the start of what we have planned for the X-Men. Next summer all eyes will be on mutantkind – we guarantee it!”
Two new teams lead mutantkind into an all new era and will have everyone asking “Who will you follow?” – only in Wolverine & The X-Men #1 and Uncanny X-Men #1!

” Never before have there been TWO teams calling themselves the X-Men and never has anyone had to choose a side”
What? yes there have been and yes they have! This is like advertising Spider-Man by saying “Never has Spider-Man swung from buildings, and never has he been so preachy about the relationship between power and responsibility”
Spiderman swinging from buildings you say? Was that in the ultimate universe?
It’s like the 7 year rule in wrestling – the turnover of casual fans has gone far enough that the new ones will think this is new, and the hardcores will just buy it anyway.
And doesn’t Wolverine already have a team he formed of the people he liked?? duh.. X-Force.
Recycle another storyline.
Why isn’t one of the teams called All-Star X-Men? Will there be a married couple that is split between teams? And will Power Girl also be on one of the teams?
Em’s a mole for Scott. Go team Scott! Logan will be too drunk to lead, then tell his team to F*%# off.
Here in Australia, if you even use the words, “Bold, New Direction” you are sent to jail and set upon by baby-eating dingoes. The USA could do with similar discipline.
I’ll round up the coyotes to take the place of the dingoes if anyone wants to start that trend up here in the States.
Goodness……..
DAMN! I called November for Uncanny X-Men #1. Missed it by that much.
First off, the art on that teaser panel is AWFUL!!. It looks like a Manga artist tried to copy Lee while he was drunk. Wolverine’s arms are WAY over sized and his head looks like there’s a small dog sitting on his shoulders. Storm looks like she’s 14, White Queen’s way too innocent looking and Rogue’s got the chest of Cypher.
Who will I follow? DC until they give me a reason to be pissed off.
And, as pointed out in other posts, saying that there have “never been two teams calling themselves the X-men” is ridiculous. There have been splits before and also the “Blue Team” and “Gold Team” era, etc. Not to mention the “Dark” X-Men. And “Wolverine and the X-Men” just reminds me too much of the animated series (which really wasn’t that good).
So if Prof. X is gonna be on both sides, does that mean more Onslaught/Multiple Personalities shenanigans?
Well I am punching out of X-Men. I read Schism, and liked it for what it was, a Age of Apocalypse mirror earth. But this, nope, not gonna happen.
You want me on board give me: Magneto, or Joseph, hell, give me both, polar opposites attract; Maggot; Marrow; Cecilia Reyes; Rogue; Cannonball; and Kid Apocalypse. Oh I’d read the hell out of that comic.
So I guess Marvel figured since the X-Men were mostly neutral during Civil War, they needed to give them more angst, because, you know, being one of the only 200-some people on the planet with natural abilities is always such a blissful gig.
I actually like the artwork for the promo – I’d just like to see the line-up more. I’m just not that crazy about the story. Why does only one of them have to be right? Why can’t we have . . . gasp . . . two valid ideologies? For Heaven’s sake, one team’s got Magneto on it! You’ll pretty much lose any debate with him in the line-up?
Looks like X-Factor will be the only X-Book I read.
Boy, Marvel really has some “Batman envy” by looking at how Wolverine is drawn. Nice utility belt you got there, Logan. You getting a sidekick to match?
My normal reaction to this would be “meh”. However, the possibility to be able to have my X-men without any Wolverine intrigues me. I still won’t buy it, but the thought is entertaining. So who ends up on who’s side? If it is like the picture then Rouge has fallen really low to be taking orders from Logan. Also, really cheesy on how most of the X-couples landed on opposite sides.

Got one… She’s a jailbait vampire, and her name rhymes with “Who-Za-Fee.”
Marvel and DC seem to be the only two kids in class… and cheating off each others’ papers!
Swamp-Thing… Man-Thing… whatever!
This just shows how little talent there is out there.
Or, if there is talent… nobody is using it properly.
Looks fun. Put it on my iPad and I will give Marvel money for it.
Otherwise, I think DC has 52 things to tempt me.
That art is brutally bad
How many “bold new directions” does this make for the X-men? Probably as many changes in course as there have been deaths and rebirths for Charles Xavior. Color me so NOT impressed.
Go read Superman. I hear he’s getting his origin told…….finally!
P.S., When is Wolverine going to give Thanos back his bad hat? Just sayin’.
They surely meant to say “never before have there been two teams of X-Men without Wolverine being in both” and goofed.
Am I the only one feeling that this is being promoted as Civil War with “mutant” hashily stamped over it? I swear, even the hype seems ripped out of Civil War.
No, you’re not. Both “Fear Itself” and “Schism” are both rehashing “Dark Reign” and “Civil War”, respectively.
How many damn X books can Marvel make? I am so glad that I stopped Marvel so long ago. To me there is one Xmen. That is Uncanny Xmen. There was one Xforce, but that got boring. There is also one New Mutants. That is it. That is all there should be. I dont get it. I guess it is the same for the Bat family, but damn that is why I do trades to not have to buy all those single copies. But this is just draining your customer just for the sake of it and manipulating people to think that they have to get this and the companies to me seem to think that they can put out anything and “0h these suckers will eat it up.” My allegiance does not come that easily.
If “you stopped reading Marvel long ago” what basis do you have to comment on what is presently being offered by the company? X-force (current incarnation) is worth reading IMHO, but you wouldn’t know either way would you since you stopped reading Marvel “long ago”. As for event driven runs, yes they are becoming tedious, in both Marvel and DC. I choose to simply enjoy these comics for what they are…entertainment, don’t buy the tie-ins and event books and when things settle down it is back to business as usual, bad guy wants to kill, steal, or dominate the world, heroes stop them. This is all I want and expect from comics, it is what I enjoyed 29 years ago when I bought my first Uncanny X-Men, if you want truly engaging well thought out long winded tales that are completely fresh, buy a book(the kind without pictures). Heroes and villains do what they do in comics, and it entertains people or we wouldn’t even be debating this.
So… shouldn’t team wolverine be the W-men?
The S-men and the W-men. There are just so many jokes and sight gags that could be made from that thought. (Like substituting the “-” with an “e” and “o”).
The S-men and the W-men.
If Summers has the S-Men, then Howlett should have the H-Men. Unless they’ve retconned his name again, as they seem to do with Magneto every ten years.
If we’re going with W-Men, then Cyclops should lead the C-Men, which makes your original joke anyway. :)
Marvel and DC…………….meh. Hey kids who is tired of event driven comics? Year after year change, change, change! Are u sick of multiple titles of comics with the same concept? I’m looking at u Batman, Spiderman and X-men. Here is a suggestion fanboys, stop buying this shyte. As long as we support it they will keep doing it. I would suggest any of u check out Dark Horse and or Image. Month after month these companies give u good stories that don’t require you to go buy several titles to get the big picture. Go read Invincible, Hellboy, Blade of the Immortal anything but Marvel and DC. Trust me good comics are out there. Go check them out your wallet will thank you. Everytime I want to jump into the big two they do more to keep me out.
I’m sure there are good comics that aren’t produced by the “Big Two”, but your argument lost all rationality when you said “here is a suggestion fanboys”… So yeah, not that your post was going to incite me to change my reading likes and dislikes or anything, but when you slip in “fanboys” it pretty much turns your post into an angry rant. Very similar to how use of the word “sheeple” takes a lot of the credibility out of an internet-viewpoint.
I’m following Mimic!
I think the art on this is drawn by Chris Bachallo or someone who can draw like him.
That is Chris Bachalo art, rushed Bachalo art but it’s his.
S**t.
