My only problem with the headmasters/targetmasters/powermasters was that it became the signal of the end of the transformers on the 80’s, at least it was almost so until beast wars came out some time later. It was the Transformers last good gasp of air before they started selling transformers which didn’t transform but thier weapons became vehicles. Then until Beast Wars they were practically dead as all they sold were cheap neon colored plastic transformers with no backstory. There must of been almost a decade of transformers fail before Beast Wars started bringing them back from the brink.
