The latest poster for Super 8 has arrived, and it is filled with ’80s goodness, not only in terms of style and feel, but also in the fact that it is done by Drew Struzan, the man behind the classic Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Big Trouble in Little China posters of our youth. Well, my youth, not yours because I’m old…
UPDATE: According to IMDB, this is not a real Struzan, but a fan inspired take on his style. So sad…

This one is lovely, really does remind me of my youth.
Definitely a late 70’s/early 80’s feel (I, too, remember those days). Isn’t that when the movie is set?
Are you sure it’s a Struzan? It’s in his style but doesn’t seem to be as…good. Looks more like an homage to Struzan and his style of posters, which would be in keeping with the overall film of the movie.
^^ That should be ‘feel’ of the movie!
Drew Struzan is the man. This is how movie posters should be. Not crappy photoshopped images. This is art. This “wall worthy”.
Damn you intardwebz!
Wow. I thought he’d retired. Good on Super 8.
That’s an incredible flashback for another “old guy”.
Lens Flare should be credited in all of JJ’s movies and shows.
I usually love posters like this. But all the characters have an expression like they are lost or something.
Its a fake, that’s not Struzan. This art is definitely not in his league. It would be nice to see a new Struzan poster, even for a crap director like Abrams, but this ain’t it.
Elle’s hand seems an odd inclusion. It has no purpose save maybe to separate her and the characters below her. Maybe that was the idea though, I dunno.
I like the poster well enough. It makes me more interested in the movie.
I don’t think that’s her hand. I’ve not seen the movie yet, but in the previews before the train crash, the main boy asks her to close her eyes and he uses a white gauze or pad to wipe near her eyes, I think it’s his hand, like a direct frame lift from the movie.
Lens flair the movie. I enjoy the flair in the poster art. Now that made my day. Ieesh. Thanks JJ.
