When Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Island #1 arrives in August, Anya Corazon will go up against her deadliest enemies. That is all according to Marvel, and writer Paul Tobin.
“It’s a VERY different Spider-Girl that readers will encounter in the pages of Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl, as the strange outbreak of spider-powers infects her as well… but in very surprising ways,” said writer Paul Tobin. “And when the Society of the Wasp declares full scale war on the new ‘army’ of the spider-powered, Spider-Girl surprisingly finds herself aligned with the Kingpin and Hobgoblin. Even more surprisingly she finds that, maybe…that’s where she most belongs.”
Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Island #1 has a $2.99 cover price.

Not surprisingly I find…that I really don’t care.
What’s got me confused it this pic. Now granted I don’t follow Arana now a days but I did buy New Allies. In that comic it didn’t look like she was shooting web from her wrists and the web looked like the rope vigilantes/street level heroes usually use. It almost seemed like she had no spider-powers whatsoever.
Did I miss something?
Yeah, in her own book recently she had these retractable cables with spider-like hooks on the ends that she could grab walls or people with, but I think this new Spider Island event is that someone sent out a ton of irradiated spiders which will be granting people with spider powers and they say here that she’s been given some powers “as the strange outbreak of spider-powers infects her as well… but in very surprising ways”, so maybe it reignites her original spider powers or just gives her a new set which includes the organic web shooters.
