Skullkickers is a rare breed. A comic that is just flat-out fun.
Reminiscent of early stories of “The Goon”, “Skullkickers” isn’t the longest or most taxing of books to read, and the story isn’t the most original, playing off a bazillion high-fantasy tropes, but what it does is bring an over the top, BEAUTIFULLY illustrated, violent, funny and carefree experience of comic reading.
I really enjoyed this opening salvo from Jim Zubkavich and Edwin Huang and can’t wait to throw myself once more into their funny, violent fantasy world with volume 2.
