I’m not the biggest fan of sequels.  Everyone knows Breakin’ was better than Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo. No. It was. Shut up Rodrigo.  For years now, Disney has been releasing sequels to some of its most loved animated movies, and once they got their mitts on Pixar, the 3-D animation house surprisingly started up sequels there, too.

Pixar and Disney have announced Monsters 2, now titled Monster University, will feature the return of Billy Crystal and John Goodman in their original roles.  The company also announced Dan Scanlon will be directing the feature.

Who is Dan Scanlon?

Beats the hell out of me, Spoilerites.  I’m just filling in while the boss is off doing something important…

Okay.  So I did a search on Bing, then realized I should have used Google.

Dan Scanlon worked as a story artist on Toy Story 3, and if you are one of those people who watches the Disney Channel until all hours of the morning, you’ve probably seen Scanlon’s Cars short, Mater and the Ghostlight.

As for the premise of the movie, the sequel is actually a prequel as movie goers will learn how Mike and Scully met and became the bestest friends in the whole wide world (of monsters).  According to Disney, Monsters University will arrive in November 2012.

That’s not too far off, Spoilerites. Let’s hope the time-line doesn’t cause the story to suffer.
