If Hope and Crosby were in the Marvel universe, they might come up with a comedy featuring the duo’s exploits on Spider Island.  Since they’re not, we’ll have to put up with the comedy stylings of Spider-Man as the path to Spider-Island begins with the Infested storyline in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #659 by Dan Slott and Stefano Caselli.

“Infested is giving readers the first adumbrations of a threat that’s been slowly creeping toward Spidey’s life for decades,” said Marvel Senior Editor, Stephen Wacker. “Dan along with some guest artists set the readers on a dangerous course that leads right to Amazing Spider-Man #666…and beyond.”

According to Marvel, Infested is “the biggest Spider-Man event of the year”, which pretty much puts the damper on that whole Death of Spider-Man thing going on in the Ultimate Universe.

Amazing Spider-Man #659 arrives April 27, 2011, and has a $3.99 cover price.

Looks like a pandemic of Spider-Man clones. Notice all the non-Spidey’s still up and walking/swinging?
