When Free Comic Book Day arrives on May 1, 2011, you’ll want to be sure to pick up DC Comics’ Green Lantern/Flashpoint special edition. As the title indicates, a preview of the big Flashpoint event will appear in the book – probably very similar to the Brightest Day tie in from last year.
This is the perfect jumping-on point for new readers who can’t wait to see the “Green Lantern” major motion picture from Warner Bros.! Discover how and why Hal received the power ring that changed his life forever with this reprinting of GREEN LANTERN #30, a pivotal chapter of the Green Lantern: Secret Origin graphic novel. No comic fan can afford to miss this exclusive first sneak peek of FLASHPOINT, DC’s blockbuster event of 2011, by the all-star team of Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert.

Is anyone else happy that DC’s artists are showing a bit more curvature around the man-bulge??? It almost makes up for all the butt-floss we have to put up with in the women’s costumes….
Not really. I’ll stick with watching the butt-floss, thanks.
With every “event”, I believe more and more that there is simply no interest in allowing/asking a creative team on a comic to simply create great stories that can sell a monthly title.
It used to be that the poorly selling (or “lame”) comics had to have cross-overs with the better selling (or “cool”) characters to improve sales…but every time I see a big two cross-over I now think that this is just some story that would otherwise not sell, hence the need for the crossover/appearances.
