Christopher Nolan continues his search for actors and actresses to star in the next Batman movie. Rumor from Deadline has Nolan looking to cast two females – one a love interest, the other the villain.

Right away you might be thinking Catwoman, and that horrible, horrible Cher rumor that ran rampant across the Inturdwebz a few months ago, but you might want to take pause and consider all the female villains that Batman has faced over the years.

  • Dr. Jane Blazedale
  • Catwoman
  • Talia al Ghul
  • Harley Quinn
  • Poison Ivy
  • Mercy Graves
  • Ventriloquist (in the new incarnation)
  • Cyber Cat
  • Jane Doe
  • Lady Vic
  • Lark
  • Lazara
  • Lynx
  • Madame Zodiac
  • Magpie
  • Mime
  • Nocturna
  • Orca
  • Pix
  • Roxy Rocket
  • Sylph
  • Ruby Rider

Just to name a few.

As far as female leads go, the list could include Vicky Vale, Silver St. Cloud, Talia al Ghul, and the ghost of Maggie Gyllenhaal.

So who has Nolan been talking to? Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley are on the list, and while none on the list strike me as an Orca type, the Madame Zodiac character may be right up Nolan’s alley.

So Spoilerites, fill up the comment section with your thoughts. Poo-poo the list, and cheer on your favorite, but just be thankful it won’t be Megan Fox.

Rachel Weisz – YES! She’s a perfect Talia.
Naomi Watts – not feeling it but it could work
Blake Lively – no idea who she is
Natalie Portman – no thanks. Never cared for her acting.
Anne Hathaway – perhaps that could work. She’s very beautiful.
Keira Knightley – HELL NO!! I couldn’t be more passionate about it. NO. N. O. Nadda. Nope. No (that’s Spanish for NO!).

      I’m going to chime in…

Rachel Weisz – Talia! – Agreed
      Naomi Watts – Vicki Vale?
Blake Lively – She’s already in Green Lantern movie.
Natalie Portman – She’s in Thor, I doubt they’d use her.
Anne Hathaway – She’s too innocent for Gotham City.
Keira Knightley – Not good. Yuck.

I don’t have opinion on the actress because I don’t know what character they will play. I would like to see Talia al Ghul most of all. It would also tie into Batman Begins.

Like a majority of audience, I have no idea who those characters are. This gives Nolan a great opportunity to reinvent and define a fresh, new villain… just like he did in the first movie.

Anne Hathaway and Rachel Weisz, YES!
Keira Knightley, no, no, NO, NO!!! She scares me.

“Rumor from Deadline has Nolan looking to cast two females – one a love interest, the other the villain.”

I’m a bit disappointed by that as it means that, apparently, the villain and the love interest will be separate.

Talia as the ‘love interest’ Catwoman as the villain. It’s a love triangle. And it avoids the Superpowers type villains like Ivy.

Couldn’t Talia be the love interest AND the villain?

Hathaway would make a good Vicky Vale I think. And whoever said she was too innocent for Gotham City isn’t familiar with all of her work.

I’ll just say “Yes, please.” They’re all pretty dang hot. I don’t really care for Blake Lively as an actress, my wife’s watched Gossip Girl for a few years and I’m not feeling it. She’s beautiful but that’s not enough. Anne Hathaway is too fine, and yeah she’s been nude in a couple films and kinda shows that she’s not too innocent (as long as you’ve seen anything other than Get Smart and Princess Diaries you’ll know that). I’m fine with Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly, Knightly was good in the movie, The Hole (also topless, huh).
