Too many people like to speculate and spread rumors about a movie that is still in the early stages of development, but…
Seems the Twitterverse is a buzz with word that The Avengers movie may feature the Kree-Skrull War, and not the Hulk as misunderstood villain that most expect. Three times we’ve seen the Hulk take the center stage as the big bad – Avengers #1 (1963), The Ultimates (2002), and in the Ultimate Avengers animated movie (2006), so a deviation from that would be nice, but I wonder if the concept of an interstellar war with Earth in the middle would be too much for movie goers who are not as familiar with the source material.

That would be so awesome! It reflects the current Arab-Israeli conflict so well.
Well not necessarily…
If this is the way they are going (with the Skrull) they need to emphasize the ET-aspect of Thor and be more subtle about stuff than for example Independence Day was. Shield doing a MIB thing wouldn’t be bad though.
I thought the covert space aliens in government thing worked well in the second arc of the Ultimates, so I could see it working here. I could also see them “defeating” the Hulk and needing him to help combat the invasion as well…..
Sorry, but they couldn’t tackle the Kree-Skrull War story arc in one movie. Even if you strip out a lot of the side plots, you can’t have Captain Marvel & Rick Jones as the heroes of the first Avengers movie. Not to mention the ending would TOTALLY not work in a mainstream movie.
Though the rumors seem to be about an Avengers vs. Skrull invasion plot, ala the Ultimates, not the Kree-Skrull War.
