The CW has announced that Smallville is indeed returning for a tenth season this fall, but the network announced that it will be the final season for the series. Allison Mack, who plays Chloe Sullivan, won’t be back as a series regular, but did confirm she will be back throughout the season.

“Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly,” Mack said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello.

And for those of you who are wondering if Tom Welling will ever don the red and blue, you probably need to take a look at the season nine finale, as there is a scene where Clark opens a package that catches his eye.

Tom Welling needs to embrace the fact that he’s been acting like Bruce Wayne all these years and keep the gray/black outfit he’s been wearing and just change the logo. Then Lois can reveal that she’s really Vicki Vale and the show can complete Chloe’s transformation into Oracle by having next season’s big bad consign her to a wheelchair.
