Wow, the art depicting Karen is frighteningly sexist. Cocked Hip. Giant Breasts. Doe Eyes. Karen crying despite her being apparently “too good to be true.”
What’s the point of having this monologue over her getting dressed? Couldn’t the writer find a less exploitative scene to do this in? I understand that they’re trying to show an average routine juxtaposed next to a scary moment, but there are many other average things a person does than get dressed. Perhaps eating cereal or something?
Sexist? Exploitative to be sure, but sexist? I’m not sure I agree with your opinion. Oh, and seeing depictions of someone eating cereal panel after panel would bore the heck out of me.
I doubt that if this Karen would have been a Karl, we wouldn’t be getting such a teasing scene. It’s sexist. Just like Malibu Barbie.
And does she break down every time she opens up that little hope chest?
So … she’s Jean?
I’d say that’s a given. Telekinesis and strong emotions about the X-Men and Cyclopes in particular? The cover also suggests an association with flame. And a Carrie vibe.
