I’ve had really mixed feelings about the latest Karate Kid movie.  Reports claim this is a direct remake of the original, but after seeing the trailer, I see it more as a reboot of the series much like this past summer’s Star Trek movie instead of a remake; almost like continuing the story in a different universe.

There are certainly moments in the trailer that are directly from the first movie, and the action looks good, but “Pick Up the Jacket” doesn’t have the same ring to it as “Wax On – Wax Off”.

  1. At least in the original Miyagi kicks the crap out of what one could consider late teens/early twenty-somethings, rather than Mr. Han beating a bunch of 12 year olds. And, who moves to China to “start over”? My inner child has been insulted.
