Oh yes, these will be mine.  Mattel has gone back to the source to come up with a new line based on the vintage MEGO figures from days past.

Check out these prototype images. You’ll see they’re not recreations, but updates lovingly based on the old style. In some cases, we’re even improving on iconic features for some of your favorite characters, like a more accurate belt buckle for Green Arrow, or an “s” curl in the hair of Superman.

Green Arrow is the first figure out of the gate, and will be released on December 15, 2009.  You’ll have to wait a bit longer for the other figures, as they will arrive in 2010.

I remember when DC did a 9-inch mego-esque line in the 90’s. That was a good effort, but sadly wasn’t long lived, I hope these fare better, being based on the actual megos this time out. (I’m glad they don’t seem to be keeping the “mitten gloves” as evidenced on the GL and GA mock ups.)

    Dang it.

I had just convionced myself to not buy anyomore toys, except Star Trek.

    And now these come out!

Yeah, depending on price point and packaging, I may get them.

    Dang It.

I have to agree. If these are over $20 apiece, I may have to pass too. If Green Arrow is some sort of online exclusive though, he’ll probably be more.
