Bless our retarded group of Intardwebz Trolls that make their way to the site to stir up trouble just because they have nothing else to do while their mothers clean their bedrooms and wash their smelly underwear.  If it wasn’t for their actions, we wouldn’t have such a tight community of loyal Spoilerites, who take great pride in being a part of the Major Spoilers experience.  I’ve often wondered what makes an Intardwebz Troll so driven to pop up randomly on a site to start a flame war, disparage content producers, or dump on those making a coherent statement in the comment section.

The answer, my friends, is to be found on the very Intardwebz these trolls frequent in a new study conducted by Kimberly Rios Morrison of Ohio State University.  The study had to do with students expressing their opinions about drinking alcohol, and the results tend to mirror our deodorant fearing trolls.

It is only when they have this sense that they are in the majority that extremely pro-alcohol students are more willing to express their views on the issue.  You have a cycle that feeds on itself: the more you hear these extremists expressing their opinions, the more you are going to believe that those extreme beliefs are normal for your community.

As expected, a bunch of USC scientists pipe up with comments like “YOU’RE RESEARCH SUXORS!”, and “WORST POST EVER!” and “Why are you wasting everyone’s time, as it is clear your opinion is clearly wrong, and mine is right!?”

What will really be funny is to see which commenter  thinks this article is directed at them. Let the paranoia begin!

Frankly, I think if you have a problem with Matthew, you ought to talk to him about it directly rather than calling him a troll.

I mean, he does contribute some good content to this site (you know, every now and then) and it’s been years since he sat under a bridge and demanded tolls from billy goats.

Matthew is owed a ton of thanks for notheing more than doing almost all of the Legion of Super Hero Histories. (Still waiting on Gazelle Matty. You’re not done yet.)

Totally unrelated I based my AD&D wizard named Mysa on the White Witch. Alas she had No Blok to work with.

Hm, I didn’t find this theory that groundbreaking. The theory of the spiral of silence has been around since the seventies and it’s very similar.

You know you have something to say, say it in the comment section
