Here’s some gravy to go along with the heaping helping of Ghost Rider 2 news we presented earlier – Marvel is developing a new Daredevil movie. Fortunately, instead of a sequel, this will be a reboot. Empire Online has no other information other than the fact that Ben Affleck won’t be involved in the project.
It’s odd that Marvel is going for a reboot of the Daredevil film when the director’s cut of the film was much better than the theatrical release. It’s certainly much better than the Ghost Rider film which Columbia seems to want to force down viewer’s throats. On the other hand, with Marvel trying to bring all its properties back in-house, rebooting the film (ala The Hulk) could do wonders for the crimson crime fighter.

This could be very cool. I’m a fan of horn-head and there are a ton of great DD stories from the likes of Miller, Bendis, Brubaker. It’s a relief that this is a reboot. Wasn’t the director of the first DD also the director of Ghost Rider? Get a respected director and a good cast and this will be a good movie.
I liked Afleck, I though he was pretty good, it was the Elektra romance being shoved down our throats that ruined the movie. I was also under the understanding that Afleck was instrumental in the film even being made… that with out a name as big as his (at the time) pushing for it to get made (apparently he’s always been a fan of the devil from hell’s kitchen), a second tier character superhero movie wouldn’t have seen the light of day. Of course now is a different story.
Maybe there won’t be choreographed playground foreplay fight this time.
Has one of these Marvel re-boots ever actually worked?
The Punisher flopped in each of three attempts. The Hulk flopped twice.
When flops stop making money, that’s when they’ll stop making them. I like Afleck on probably half the roles he’s played. Anything that’s had comedy involved with it serves him better. Dramatic roles don’t sound like his forte… especially when he’s shouting in his high pitched voice. I think he did a decent job with Daredevil, just that the movie started to suffer from “Batman & Robin” syndrome where it became too silly with the overacting on Bullseye, Kingpin’s parts, and the superhero foreplay.
Is Guy Pearce available? No… wait.
Brian (great name but spelled wrong) is right. They just tried to stuff too much into the first movie. One hero, one villain, and one sub-plot will work so much better.
