Boom! has been on a roll lately with some really great titles, so when I saw that company founder Andrew Cosby and Hexed writer Michael Alan Nelson are teaming for a Samurai revenge tale, color me excited.

Toshiro Ono is the SWORDSMITH ASSASSIN, maker of the finest blades in all Japan. For generations, Ono’s family has sold their fabled swords only to those who follow the Samurai code of honor…but when Toshiro compromises his family ethic, disaster and tragedy follows. Now Toshiro has made it his mission to reclaim every weapon he has ever forged–and he is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that none of his swords ever kill again.

“SWORDSMITH ASSASSIN is one of the most beautiful–and most disturbing–books we have ever published,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid in a prepared statement. “The story has a passion to it that really sets it above and apart. If you have yet to jump on the BOOM! train, this is the BOOM! original not to be missed.”

Swordsmith Assassin features cover art by John Cassaday and Joe Corroney and arrives in September.
