  1. I once saw an interview with Stan Lee where he talked about “creating” Thor. He didnt take credit for all of it though, as he said it was his brother who came up with the name for Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.

His brother, as we all know, stopped celebrating his birthdays after the 1000th one.

    • If I’m not mistaken, Larry Lieber came up with the name “uru,” for the metal Mjolnir was made of. I do believe that Mjolnir is actually the name of the legendary hammer in historical context.

I’d have to look it up to be sure, tho…

  2. yes, mjolnir is the name of the mythological Thor’s hammer. Stan Lee did change Thor’s hair to blonde ( it was red in the legends along with a full beard).

  3. Yep, the name is Mjölnir. It was just funny that Lee claimed his brother named it. The brother would’ve had to be thousands of years old for that to be true…

    Have a nice weekend! :)

  4. I believe the story is that Stan’s brother came up with Uru and that’s what Stan called it. Later, Roy Thomas (I think) used the actual name from mythology and decided Uru was the metal.
