Tripping back, back, waaaaaay back to the year 1967, Marvel plays on our (and by our I mean those of us that are old) nostalgia strings by putting the Spider-Man animated series up on the Marvel.com website.

First airing on the ABC television network in 1967, the series revolves around the scientific-minded teenager Peter Parker who, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, develops amazing strength and spider-like powers. He decides to become a crime-fighting, costumed super hero; all the while dealing with his personal problems and the insecurities resulting from being a teenager. Each episode features two parts so you get twice as many web-slinging adventures in each video!

Each week, Marvel will post new episodes of the series, but today, Major Spoilers brings you that first exciting episode…after the jump!

These were in syndication in the 70s and early 80s so you actually don’t have to be *that* old to have nostalgia for the show. I bought the DVD set when it came out a few years ago and while some of the early episodes are cool with the Sinister Six, later season show Spidey fighting non-villians and getting “Super Friends”ish in tackling teen problems. Despite its hilariously frequent recycling of web-swinging shots, there are some cool trippy scenes and a fun look at a early 60s version of America. And I still love the voice of JJ Jameson: “PARKER!!!”
