We usually don’t get too many solicitations for trade paperbacks from Archie Comics, but the company’s Freshman Year story was popular enough to be collected into The High School Chronicles Volume One: Freshman Year.

In the “Freshman Year” saga, originally presented in the pages of ARCHIE #587-591, readers finally learned the back-story behind Riverdale’s fabled cast of characters.  This new classic is now set to join the list of other famous comic book “prequels” as all four stories are collected together in the first edition of “The High School Chronicles!”  This handsome trade paperback collection will make an excellent addition to any Archie fan’s bookshelf.

The trade goes on sale April 29, 2009 for $10.95

I haven’t read Archie Comics in god knows how long, but when I heard that Batton Lash was writing it I thought I’d give it a try and I was glad I did! Batton does a nice job of updating Archie and the gang! I get tired of grim and gritty crud and this was a refreshing change of pace. I don’t know if I’d read “Archie” again or not, but I’m glad I read this story.
