I know a lot of you don’t watch Fringe, but it is a pretty good show, when you get into the mythology of everything. It really is becoming the new X-Files. I really dug the Observer episode that featured a bald-headed guy that just so happens to have been around at major events in the characters lives. But careful observers of the show may have noticed the Observer in nearly every episode of the series since it began.
Bizarre! I now have a new watching/drinking game for my Friday nights (that’s when I watch the show – what? You watch it in real time? Lame…)
Where else have we seen the Observer?

Daaaaaaaaaaayum!
Can’t believe I missed him in all those shots.
Good show. Hope it avoids cancellation like so many shows these days.
Stephen, you watch the Fringe on Friday nights? So you really do think it can replace the classic
X-File Friday Night? Didn’t the orginal Kolchak: Night Stalker broadcast on Friday?
That man is Michael Cerveris, and he’s amazing.
Fringe shoots here in NYC, where I live. I’ve been an extra on the show a few times, in fact I’m in the clip. I walk in front of the blond girl and the beard guy half way through, I’m a waiter.
I spoke to ‘The Observer’ on set, not knowing that he’s this big Easter egg for the show. He’s a really cool guy, fun to talk to.
September 13, 1974 was indeed a Friday. I was four years old and remember the day clearly as Kolchak investigated The Ripper. Friday’s would never be the same again…until the early 80s when I was doing sports on Fridays, and by the time I got home, the only thing on was late night reruns of Tom Baker Doctor Who…
I’m glad to say Fringe came back here, after being dropped for some reason, but we are a bit behind I guess so I only watched the video up until the epsiode shown above, which happens to be the latest one we had. I didn’t recognise John Noble at first when it started until he ate something and I thought “hang on, that’s the guy who played Denethor”.
I wonder just how much the Observer’s actor gets paid just to show up once a week in the background. Is having to turn up for such a small cameo really worth his time?
