It was another three day weekend that allowed movie goers to flood into theaters to catch the end of the summer movie block buster extravaganza and push The Dark Knight beyond the $500 million mark domestically. While not even close to the vast fortune amassed by billionaire Bruce Wayne, the film has done so well, it now sits as only the second film in history to make this much money, surpassing Star Wars Episode IV, with only Titanic left to beat. Considering summer is over and Dark Knight would have to make another $140 million before the DVD release, I don’t see the film ever taking the number one spot.

Yeah, no beating that boat movie, but still impressive for a movie about a guy dressed as a bat fighting a homicidal clown.
Of course if you adjust for inflation, Star Wars is still champ.
I thought adjusting for inflation, Gone With the Wind was champ?
So confusing.
Doesn’t matter, Pootie Tang is still the greatest movie ever made, sa da tay.
It depends on how you adjust.
Everything, it seems, is a numbers game.
Of course, if you really want to make everything even, you could note that multiple films have been re-released, films from the past didn’t have to deal with illegal internet downloading, people waiting for the DVD, etc.
