With the rumors about a reboot or cancellation of some or all of Marvel’s Ultimate titles, you can bet there were lots of people attending the Marvel Ultimate Panel at San Diego Comic Con. Take the jump for the highlights.
On the panel were Joe Quesada, Jim McCann, Jeph Loeb, Joe Pokaski, Aron Coleite, and Dan Buckley.
- “Before you can end something, you have to know how it began”, hence Ultimate Origins
- Zarda, Hulk, and some nakedness, although not the level of nakedness that was seen in the rejected Frank Cho Hulk cover sketch.
- Obviously the Ultimate universe is continuing, and Mark Millar will be returning to it.
- Ultimate Captain America Annual will reveal the origin of Ultimate Black Panther.
- Ultimate Fantastic Four is ending, and Joe Pokaski is writing the final issue.
- Speaking of Frank Cho, he has signed an exclusive contract with Marvel to work on Ultimate titles.
- The final script for Ultimate Hulk/Wolverine has just been turned in.
- Ultimatum is not an ultimate version of any Marvel story we’ve seen before, according to McCann.
- Aron Coleite will be writing Ultimate X-Men until issue #100.
- Ultimate Spider-Man will not be cancelled.
- We may see a version of Ultimate She-Hulk.
I’ve never read Ultimate X-Men, but am a big fan of Ultimate Spider-Man, and have been reading Ultimate Fantastic Four. As long as Ultimate Spider-Man and a better version of the Ultimates arrives, I’m more than happy with the news.
