As predicted, Iron Man did a tremendous job at the box office this past weekend, bringing in an estimated $104 million in ticket sales. This is the second biggest opening weekend for a non-sequel movie since the first Spider-Man movie debuted at $114 million in 2002.
We’ll discuss the Iron Man movie on the next Major Spoilers Podcast, and we’ll even read some of your comments about the flick on the show.

I wish someone would publish the numbers adjusted for inflation. How do you compare the gross a movie at $10 a ticket against when they were $5?
However, Iron Man was great and I hope the industry takes notice that a “second tier” character can hit a home run at the box office, if it’s done right.
Or when the Wizard of Oz came out and tickets were a nickel…
Tune into the Major Spoilers Podcast this week, and you may get to hear me sing the Iron Man theme song! :)
Assuming Stephen even lets me.
You WILL sing that song!
Now if only the Tony Stark I saw on the big screen was actually the Tony Stark portrayed in the Marvel Universe. Excellent movie, but I fear it will rally the powers that be in their misguided direction.
Personally, I like misguided Marvel U Tony Stark. He’s flawed, he makes mistakes. He royally f’s up.
Tony hasn’t been this interesting in years.
I llike Tony in the comics also, sure hes the Iron Dictator but thats whats making him mainstream in comics right now. Pretty soon as everybody knows, comic Tony will do a heel turn and become good Tony because of Movie Tony. thats alot of Tonys.
