I went with born with powers just because that set up cuts through the crap that a poor origin can spread around.
What about the Gained Powers/Extraordinary Abilities through intense training/gadgetry. I mean you’re cutting off a whole section of Batman/Iron Man and assorted Clones.
I actually was thinking the Special Training/Gagetter characters myself. My favorites are ones like Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Blue Beetle, etc.
But, since that option is not here, I go with Magical. In a well constructed world with magic laws. You must have boundaries.
and what about “given powers” like Green Lantern? doesn’t quite fit under the other categories…
I think the GL powers could be classified under the Alien powers.
I went with born with powers b/c it forces the character into places that everyone goes through. I am sure everyone here has experienced being bullied or picked on in your youth. What would you have done if you were born with a special power in those situations?
My second choice would be getting powers by an accident. But, really how many people have been to a lab where they are working with radioactive elements.
