The Initiative has deployed its latest team to New Jersey (and here I thought everyone in NY hated those Jersey folk). Joe Casey picks up the pen and weaves the six part tale of Nighthawk and his old pals being assigned to the Garden State by Iron Man.
“The Last Defenders is the Marvel series I’ve been waiting my entire career to write,†said Casey. “Every issue is jam-packed with superhero teambook goodness. Jim’s art is phenomenal, and industry legend Keith Giffen pitched in with his classic storytelling chops. For me as a writer, this one’s really got it all.â€
The good people at Marvel were kind enough to send us a sneak peek of the first issue that arrives March 12, 2008.

I was going to ask what’s Colossus doing there, when I remembered that the X-Men broke up after Messiah Complex. Still, it’s not like he couldn’t be on two teams, or if he was like Wolverine, 20. :)
I wonder when he (Colossus) got short and chubby :s
man..I’m so glad to see the Flaming Skull again! Always found him neat
I always dug the Defenders. Not sure about this line-up, though. And Jerz only needs 4 heros?
Um… How big is New Jersey, again?
