Yup, throw enough money at someone and they pretty much do anything. In an interview with Superhero Hype! Sam Raimi gave an update on the film.
“Right now, Sony is meeting with different writers to try and bring a fresh new story and approach to the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise,” Raimi told us, “so I’ve been in meetings with Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, the producers, and Amy Pascal. Different writers have been coming in and spinning different tales of where ‘Spider-Man’ can go from here.”
Let’s just hope it isn’t Clone Saga…

I lost some respect for Sam Raimi after Spider-Man 3. He went on record saying he would never have Venom in his Spider-Man films and then he sold out to the executives and sandwiched a poorly written Venom into his well written Sandman story. If he keeps going in this direction of letting other people determine the story of his films then I predict a Spider-Man Begins style reboot of the franchise in the future, with Sam Raimi being labeled the newest Schumacher.
Spider-Man 3 was definitely the weakest of the franchise so far. I hope that they take a long, good think before committing to #4. Make it a focused story – you can’t beat the brilliance of #2, use that as the model to build a super sequel.
