While Box Office Mojo isn’t the official source for all things related to movie releases, it does have a listing for Transformers 2. It also lists the release date as June 26, 2009. Other than saying it is a Sci-Fi Action flick no other info is provided.

I wonder if they have been filming yet? Less than two years to make this movie seems unattainable to me.
Here’s my guess.
The script is done or nearly done
Shooting only takes 90 to 120 days max
Returning actors lowers the delay in casting
Unless the company is seriously redesigning the transformers, little work needs to be done to rebuild robots, meaning post production can be done in about a year (or less)
So – my guess is it will be done just in time for the premiere.
Good point. So will the cost of production be significantly less for T2? Making their return on investment a hell of a lot more than T1.
Actually cost of production could stay the same or go up. Because of the rush to get the flick started to avoid the Writers Guild strike the costs will jump. Also all the stars in the film that will return will get a significant boost in pay. Wouldn’t surprise me if LaPoof jumps at least 5 million in pay for the sequel. Add in the fact that the action will need to be bigger, badder, better, and you are looking at a budget at around $175 – $200 million, or about 25% more than the first. Of course the return is expected to be higher as well as the franchise has now been proven and there is even greater merchandising opportunities.
