I was drifting through my local pop culture store the other day, when I happend across the Kirk and Klingon figures from Diamond Select Toys.  You know, the ones that are made from the original Mego molds from the 1970s?

The company is at it again with their latest 8-inch figures – Mego’s Planet of the Apes.  Looks like they’ll be using the same molds (no pictures from the company at this time), and will roll out the Cornelius and Ursus figures first.  Later, the line will feature Dr. Zaius and Dr. Zira figures. What? No Charlton Heston with “Finally, you really did it! YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! DAMN YOU! GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!” action?

So what kind of fun can you expect from these toys? Take a gander at the original commercial from 1974!

The figures will be available in 2008.
