It must be comics-2-film day here at Major Spoilers as the Internet is a buzz with tales of comic properties getting the cinematic treatment. My guess is as the week wraps, we’ll have plenty more to share with you.
The latest word is Guy Ritchie will be directing The Gamekeeper, the Virgin comic property Ritchie originally developed. Currently Andy Diggle writes the series for Virgin, which is the company’s first title to get picked up that is actually moving into the development stage.
Warner Bros. will release the film with Joel Silver producing under his Silver Pictues banner. Sharad Devarajan and Gotham Chopra of Virgin will executive produce, and Ritchie will direct.
“Gamekeeper” is part of Virgin’s Director’s Cut comic line, which also includes original titles from John Woo, Terry Gilliam, Shekhar Kapur, Jonathan Mostow, Ed Burns and Nicolas Cage.
You can read the first issue at Virgin’s website.
