He has the most recognizable face in the west, and now Warner Bros. Pictures has announced it will bring Jonah Hex to the big screen in an adaptation by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.
“Hex” first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of “All-Star Western” before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.
Unfortunately, this won’t be a direct adaptation of the western. Instead, the filmmakers plan on adding a lot of “supernatural overtones to develop a franchise”. This could be a really big mistake – it sounds like they are going to have Jonah fighting vampires and werewolves ala the DarkWatch video game. While the game was fun, I just don’t see Jonah Hex as Jericho Cross.

I’d love it if they had Joe R. Landsdale writing it. I loved his take on Jonah Hex.
Supernatural – Boo, Hiss.
There is plenty of great material to draw from which is straight forward western.
