IDW Publishing has announced a prequel to the graphic novel and upcoming movie 30 Days of Night. while you might think a vampire-in-the-arctic-circle story might be a one shot deal, Ben Templesmith returns telling a story set 100 years before the original.
In “30 Days of Night: Red Snow,” Eisner Award-nominated artist Templesmith, makes his debut as writer/artist on the nightmarish world of vampires he co-created. This gritty, three-part tale is set during World War II and follows a British military attaché who is assigned to getting aid through Stalin’s frontline troops, all while the Russian winter grows more threatening. However, he finds survival even more difficult than anticipated when an unexpected element-which is much more adept at killing humans than humans are-adds itself to the mix.
Oh great – commie vampires… A quick three page preview after the jump.
30 Days of Night: Red Snow #1 (of 3) will debut in August.
