There have been a myriad of rumors and confirmed rumors of celebrities being cast for upcoming comic related movies. Which are true and which are false?

Thomas Jane said in an interview with Ain’t It Cool News that he’s dropped out of the sequel to The Punisher, while David Boreanaz is reported to have auditioned for Namor in Marvel’s Sub-Mariner movie.

The Punisher sequel is said to be pretty dark and gritty, which could be a good thing compared to how “tame”*snicker*the first movie was. As far as Angel cast as Namor? I think he’s just a bit bulky for the role. I’m not calling him a fatty, just Namor always comes off as far more streamlined. Perhaps Entourage’s Adrian Grenier would be better if he got a haircut. Then again, I’m probably biased due to his “success” as Aquaman.

In an odd bit of crisscrossed naming, actor/rapper David Banner has auditioned for a role in The Dark Knight as a villain called Gamble, and Batmanuel (actor Nestor Carbonell) has been cast as the mayor of Gotham City.

Another villain in The Dark Knight? Hasn’t Hollywood learned the lesson of casting too many villains in these movies? One or two bad guys is more than enough. While I would like the concept of Spider-Man fighting the Sinister Six, it just wouldn’t play out in a three hour movie. Likewise, putting too many villains in The Dark Knight is just going to water down the entire show.

Batman Begins had multiple villians. I’m not just talking about Ra’s al Ghul & Scarecrow.

They were able to make multiple villians because they were delegated to small parts of the story. Most of them were cameos if you consider Joe Chill, the Joker, Carmine Falcone and Mr. Zsaz.

My point is if mulitple villians have short well written roles they can be used to add texture to the story without dragging the movie down.
