Sure the name Murdock is familiar to Marvel fans – Matt Murdock is the Daredevil, protector of Hell’s Kitchen. I loved Frank Miller’s run on Daredevil and have really grown to appreciate the back story of how Matt became an orphan when his father was killed.

Daredevil: Battlin’ Jack Murdock takes a look at Matt’s father and his struggle to save his soul in this four issue series under the Marvel Knights imprint. Marvel Knights is not your normal Marvel comic, taking a more hardcore approach to storytelling. Most recently Marvel Knights released the oft controversial Spider-Man Reign.

Marvel has sent us a sneak peek of the series which debuts in June.

DAREDEVIL: BATTLIN’ JACK MURDOCK #1 (of 4)
Written by ZEB WELLS
Story by CARMINE DI GIANDOMENICO & ZEB WELLS
Pencils and Cover by CARMINE DI GIANDOMENICO

The four issue series is co-written by Zeb Wells and Carmine Di Giandomenico, with the latter also providing the series’ lush artwork. Exploring the relationship between Jack and his son, Battlin Jack Murdock is a heartfelt series that offers a unique insight into the formative years of Matt Murdock and into the mind of the man who shaped him. You might know how it all ends, but do you really know how it all began?
