Stephen King will appear as a Guest of Honor at the New York Comic Con (February 23-25, 2007) to discuss the Marvel Comic adaptation of his The Dark Tower series. King will participate in a special panel hosted by Marvel Entertainment Editor in Chief Joe Quesada on Saturday February 24.
In a press release prepared by Marvel, Ruwan Jayatilleke, Director of Development, Marvel Publishing said, “We are absolutely ecstatic that Stephen King will be attending the February 2007 New York Comic Con. His appearance will be a huge thrill for Dark Tower enthusiasts, comic book fans, and convention-goers alike. Marvel is extremely grateful for this opportunity—and aims to make this convention a landmark event for all of graphic fiction storytelling.”
The Marvel adaptation will delve into the life of King’s lead character Roland Deschain, revealing events and conflicts that leads to th quest of saving the Dark Tower. the first issue of The Dark Tower will be available on February 7, 2007.
Peter David has been hired by Marvel to script the first seven issues with Jae Lee doing the art, and Richard Isanove on colors.
