Fewer than two weeks after Top Cow Productions’ smash-hit Freshmen II leaped off comic book shelves, Top Cow’s original Freshmen series is launching as a web comic as well, having just started on November 10, 2006.
“We know the exposure that Platinum Studios is getting on DrunkDuck.com for Cowboys & Aliens and Hero By Night,” said Matt Hawkins, president of Top Cow Production. “Freshmen and Freshmen II will greatly benefit from this exposure to a market that might not otherwise regularly pick up the book.”
Freshmen will publish one page a day (Monday through Friday) on DrunkDuck.com (http://www.drunkduck.com/Freshmen/) and publish additional issues at the end of the run. There are plans to also run additional books from Top Cow on DrunkDuck.com in the future.
“We are thrilled to have Freshmen posted on our site,” said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Chairman and CEO of Platinum Studios. “We have a lot of respect for both Top Cow and Seth Green and are looking forward to seeing some of their other work up on the site soon.”
“I’m really excited to have Freshmen available for Internet readers on DrunkDuck-I’m convinced that the folks who take a look at us and get to know our characters will be hooked for good,” said Hugh Sterbakov, writer and co-creator of Freshmen and Freshmen II. “I’ll be lurking around the DD forums and checking out our book’s presence, so be sure to look me up!”
Freshmen tells the tale of an incoming class of Freese College freshmen who obtain wild and sometimes hilarious superpowers when an experimental machine explodes in the college’s science building. Freshmen was co-created by Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov, penciled by Leonard Kirk, inked by Andrew Pepoy, and colored by Tyson Wengler.
