If you are familiar with the adult web comic Pawn, then you know the site has been down for some time, causing fans to wonder what is up with their favorite she-demon. The good news is the site is back, but slow. The bad news is Chapter 5 is still not done.
Hello everyone!
Here’s some inside info for you all. I’m going to post this on me
site soon enough.I got some good news and some bad news.
GOOD NEWS: part 5 is coming along nicely! Just got 8 pages that need
some shading, and then it’s done and ready! :)BAD NEWS: I think I know why Surftown cut me off…traffic! Lots and
lots of traffic (despite their traffic is “free”).Pawn is definitely attracting a LOT of traffic. The 10 GB I
currently got on Levonline isn’t nearly enough. Heck, even the
highest traffic they can offer at 30 GB a month isn’t enough. In
August alone Pawn had 63 GB of traffic. At this very moment I’m
already over the limit by 5 GB for this month. Now, Levonline don’t cut me off (likes some other webhotels) they
bill me for the extra traffic. I was aware of this, it was the
reason I chose them. However, I weren’t prepared for that BIG bill
they dropped on me, since I weren’t aware of how much traffic Pawn
really attracts. This is my own fault. I should’ve done my homework
better. I can handle the extra expenses at the moment, no problem.
But point is…it’s TOO expensive!I could change my views on donations but in the long run it would
just be a big waste of generous readers’ money. Also, out of cheer
principle, there has to be a better deal than this out there. So, I have to find another place to host the comic, again. I’ve had
many generous offers the first time Pawn went down. I’ll check back
on those and any other that might pop up. Be aware that the site
will evidently require over 60 GB of traffic. If the host is outside
of Sweden I’ll also need to check up on copyright laws. There’s lots
of good and cheap webhotels out there, I’m sure, but I really wish
to avoid the ones that force you to have annoying pop-ups or any
other banners than your own.Well, that’s the situation right now.
My current plan is to find a new place to host Pawn AND publish part
5 at the same time. I can’t do this on the current site.
Unfortunately I must either limit the current site to a mere info
page (no comic, links, art) or remove the site all together. This
will of course be temporary. This isn’t the end of the world, and it sure isn’t the end of Pawn.
There is a very good thing about all this…Pawn is popular! And
half the credit goes to all of you fans and readers out there! :)Thank you!
Sincerely,
Fredrik K.T: Andersson
This is an ongoing concern for many web comic artists who find fame catching up with them.
