We all know that movies based on comic books often change or totally rewrite the history of our favorite character in an attempt to sell more tickets, but changing who killed Uncle Ben? Major Spoilers ahead.
We all know a no-good-dirty-theif killed Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben. The first Spider-Man movie even led us to believe this. Spider-Man 3 won’t be in theatre’s until next year, but already we find out history is rewriting itself. Instead of a no-name thug killing Uncle Ben, Sam Raimi may be writing a little more backstory on the Sandman.
A few days ago WireImage posted a whole slew of pictures taken on the streets of New York during the shooting of Spider-Man 3. On set were Cliff Robertson (Uncle Ben), Michael Poppajohn (the no-good-dirty-theif who original killed Ben), and Thomas Hayden Church (playing Sandman in S3). You can check out the pictures yourself right here.
So what does this mean? Could Sam Raimi, who fans have hailed as actually doing a comic book film adaptation right, actually be making the biggest mistake of his life, or is this really some attempt by the Venom symbiote to screw with Peter Parker’s mind?
Guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out…
What are your thoughts? Which way is Raimi swinging on this one?
